Sugar Cookie


Ingredients
                                                                                                                  SERVES 24 LARGE COOKIES
1 egg
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of butter
1tsp of vanilla
2.5 cups of self-raising flour                                                           
 
Method
Turn oven on at 350F.

These cookies are great, quick, and easy to make. They please everyone.
  1. We will start by putting our eggs and butter together, you want to make sure your butter is room temperature (If it's not at room temperature, put it in the microwave for 5 seconds then turn on the other side, repeat this for all 4 sides or until soft). Whisk it together and then add the sugar slowly, keep whisking till smooth.
  2. Slowly add the first cup of flour and keep mixing, add the vanilla and the second cup of flour, at this point your dough should be able to hand knead.
  3.  Add the last half a cup of flour and knead till it doesn't stick to your hands.
  4.  Sprinkle your worktop with flour and place your dough on top of it, next we will cover our rolling pin with flour and start rolling it out, you can make them as thin or as thick as you want (time of cooking will change). Use cookie cutters and cut out your shapes, place them on a baking tray with parchment paper. 
  5. Place in the oven for 10/15 min. (I placed them for 12min). These cookies will remain quite pale but the edges will golden up when cooked.
  6. Once cooked take the cookies out of the oven and let cool before moving, as they are super soft and need to cool down to harden.
